Description
The HP 216A is the standard-yield toner cartridge family designed for the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M183 series.
Even though the printer itself is a full-color machine, it uses four separate all-in-one cartridges. The Black unit contains its own integrated toner hopper, developer roller, and independent green OPC drum cylinder.
Complete System Hardware Compatibility:
This cartridge layout fits a distinct sub-group of HP’s compact entry-level color laser printers:
-
HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M183nw
-
HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M183fw
-
HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182nw
-
HP Color LaserJet Pro M155a / M155nw
Technical Specifications & Part Numbers:
| Feature | Standard Yield Specifications |
| HP Series Code | HP 216A |
| OEM Part Number | W2410A |
| Page Yield | Approximately 1,050 pages |
| Color Profile | Monochrome (Black) |
| Testing Baseline | ISO/IEC 19798 standard (5% page coverage) |
ℹ️ Note on High-Yield “X” Versions: HP does not manufacture an official high-yield “216X” cartridge for the M183 hardware frame. The small, pull-out internal cartridge drawer has strict physical height restrictions, leaving room only for the standard 1,050-page capacity shell profile.
The Full Color Companion Family:
For inventory sorting or multi-pack cataloging, the Black W2410A cartridge completes the full color set alongside these companion models (each rated for approximately 850 pages):
-
W2411A (Cyan) — HP 216A
-
W2412A (Yellow) — HP 216A
-
W2413A (Magenta) — HP 216A
Key Technical & Smart Chip Information:
-
JetIntelligence Firmware Lockout: The W2410A relies on a specialized, secure tracking microchip installed on the cartridge chassis. Because the M183 engine firmware aggressively monitors supply serialization, third-party or non-original cartridges require a fully updated replacement chip installed to read out exact remaining powder statistics and avoid “Supply Error” control panel locks.
-
Canon Cross-Reference (Engine Twin): This HP hardware platform is co-developed with Canon’s compact color series. The physical plastic shell configuration and chemical powder properties of the HP 216A are identical to the Canon CRG-067 Black cartridge (used in the Canon Color imageCLASS LBP631Cw / MF653Cdw series). Note: While the mechanical hulls match, the tracking microchips carry brand-specific coding.
