The HP 83A (standard yield) and HP 83X (high yield) are the all-in-one toner cartridges designed for the HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn series.
Like other classic HP desktop engines, this uses an All-in-One cartridge architecture. The toner supply, internal green OPC drum cylinder, developer roller, charging roller, and waste hopper are integrated into a single unit. Replacing the cartridge refreshes the entire imaging system.

⚠️ Physical Compatibility Warning: The high-yield CF283X (83X) cartridge features a physically deeper toner hopper belly. It is designed to work in the M201 and M225 series, but it will not fit your MFP M127fn printer. For the M127fn, you must strictly use the standard-yield CF283A (83A) cartridge.

This chip handles serialization, alerts the printer to low toner status, and records regional data. Aftermarket or non-original cartridges require a matching 83A replacement chip to bypass “Toner Low” warnings on the M127fn display panel.

Canon Cross-Reference (Engine Twin): Because HP shares engine architectures with Canon, the HP CF283A is structurally and functionally identical to the Canon CRG-137 (used in imageCLASS MF211/MF227dw series) and Canon CRG-737 (European variant).
