HP Black Toner P2035

The HP 05A (standard yield) and HP 05X (high yield) are the all-in-one black toner cartridges designed for the HP LaserJet P2035 and P2055 series.

Like other classic mid-volume HP desktop engines, this uses an All-in-One cartridge architecture. The toner supply, internal green OPC drum cylinder, developer roller, charging roller, and cleaning blade are all housed in a single integrated unit.

This chassis design spans across two primary desktop monochrome variants:

• LaserJet P2035 / P2035n (Accepts 05A standard yield only)

• LaserJet P2055d / P2055dn / P2055x (Accepts both 05A and 05X)

⚠️ Physical Compatibility Warning for the P2035: The high-yield CE505X (05X) cartridge features a significantly deeper plastic toner hopper belly. The LaserJet P2035 engine lacks the internal physical clearance to accept this larger shell. For the P2035 or P2035n, you must strictly use the standard-yield CE505A (05A) cartridge.

Key Technical Information:

• Smart Chip Configuration: The cartridge features an integrated tracking microchip on the top guide rail. On the LaserJet P2035, the chip monitors basic engine status, but the machine will continue to print even if a non-original or depleted chip is present (unlike the P2055, which actively enforces chip tracking).

• Canon Cross-Reference (Engine Twin): This HP engine architecture is shared with Canon. The HP CE505A is structurally and functionally identical to the Canon CRG-119 / CRG-719 cartridge (used in the Canon imageCLASS LBP6300dn / LBP6650dn and MF5880dn series).

• Component-Level Rebuilding Spec: For aftermarket component sourcing or remanufacturing:

  • OPC Drum Cylinder: Uses a standard 24mm diameter green aluminum drum cylinder core.

  • Magnetic Roller Sleeve: Uses a specialized, high-density magnetic core sleeve to ensure steady black toner flow at the P2035’s rapid print speed (30 pages per minute).

  • Wiper Blade & PCR: Share internal physical dimension parameters with the newer HP 80A (CF280A) series, reducing separate parts inventory needs.
