Description

The HP 26A (standard yield) and HP 26X (high yield) are the all-in-one black toner cartridges designed for the highly popular HP LaserJet Pro M402 and MFP M426 series.

This family utilizes HP’s All-in-One cartridge architecture. The toner supply, a long-life green OPC drum, developer roller, and cleaning components are integrated into a single plastic housing. Replacing the cartridge refreshes the entire imaging system.

Complete Hardware Compatibility Matrix:

This cartridge chassis fits perfectly into the following mid-volume monochrome desktop laser printers and multifunction peripherals (MFPs):

  • LaserJet Pro M402d / M402n / M402dn / M402dw

  • LaserJet Pro MFP M426dw / M426fdn / M426fdw

ℹ️ Physical Dimension Differences: The high-yield CF226X features a deeper toner hopper belly containing more powder. Both the standard M402 printer and the M426 MFP have an internal drop-down slot designed with ample physical clearance to accept either the standard 26A or high-yield 26X shell profile without issue.

Key Technical & Aftermarket Information:

  • JetIntelligence Smart Chip: The cartridge features an electronic contact microchip on the top guide track. The printer reads this chip to track page count, prevent regional mismatching, and enforce anti-fraud security. Non-original or third-party cartridges must be fitted with an updated chip to bypass “Cartridge Policy” or “Supply Error” lockout screens on the display panel.

  • Canon Cross-Reference (Engine Twin): This HP engine architecture was co-developed with Canon. The HP CF226A/X cartridges are structurally and mechanically identical to the Canon CRG-052 / CRG-052H (used in the Canon imageCLASS LBP214dw / MF424dw series). Note: While the plastic hulls match, the tracking microchips carry brand-specific firmware coding.

  • Component-Level Rebuilding Spec: For remanufacturing, parts distribution, or inventory sorting:

    • OPC Drum Cylinder: Uses a 24mm diameter green aluminum drum cylinder core with a specialized drive gear.

    • Magnetic Roller Sleeve: Requires a specialized high-density magnetic core sleeve to match the printer’s rapid output speed (up to 40 pages per minute).
